Miso to Enhance Kitchen Automation Using NVIDIA Isaac Robotics Platform and AI-Powered Vision Technology

Integrating NVIDIA Isaac Manipulator into Miso’s next-generation Flippy Fry Station to drive advances in speed, efficiency, and accuracy in foodservice automation.

Los Angeles, CA, October 21, 2024Miso, a pioneer in kitchen automation and AI-driven robotics, today announced it is integrating NVIDIA accelerated computing and robotics technologies to bring AI motion planning capabilities to its next-generation Flippy Fry Station. This will enhance speed and precision in commercial kitchen operations across the foodservice industry.

Delivering Real-World Impact

The new Flippy Fry Station, which combines Miso AI with best-in-class NVIDIA technologies, is being deployed across restaurant locations. This next-generation Flippy has been engineered to deliver faster, more reliable performance while seamlessly integrating into existing kitchen environments.

Flippy’s AI Vision & Motion Leap Forward

Flippy Fry Station’s motion planning and precision vision systems are powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI. These enhancements reduce food waste, improve throughput, and optimize cooking times. NVIDIA GPU-accelerated AI technology allows Flippy to identify and handle food products with increased accuracy and speed, enabling measurable gains in operational efficiency for restaurant operators.

Miso integrated the NVIDIA Isaac Manipulator reference workflow, which includes NVIDIA cuMotion, a CUDA-accelerated library that uses NVIDIA’s specialized computing technology to perform motion planning tasks much faster than traditional systems. By harnessing this powerful technology built on ROS 2, Miso has upgraded Flippy’s motion planning, making its movements faster, smoother, and more precise. This improvement helps Flippy navigate the kitchen more efficiently and handle tasks with greater accuracy.

“Working with the NVIDIA Isaac robotics platform enables Miso to incorporate state-of-the-art motion planning and AI technology into our kitchen automation solutions,” said Dr. Bachir Kharraja, Chief Technology Officer of Miso. “By enhancing Flippy’s accuracy, speed, and consistency, we’re setting a new standard for foodservice automation that addresses critical challenges faced by operators today.”

This collaboration is set to deliver real-world results soon. Starting this month, the first next-generation Flippy Fry Station units, enhanced by NVIDIA AI, will be installed in commercial kitchens. With these imminent deployments, Miso is taking another leap forward in transforming kitchen automation.
